Harry Potter Series Adds to Cast

HBO has added nine actors to the cast for its upcoming original Harry Potter series, including Katherine Parkinson, Johnny Flynn, Bel Powley and Bertie Carvel.

Parkinson will star as Molly Weasley, while Flynn will play Lucius Malfoy and Carvel will star as Cornelius Fudge. Powley will appear as Petunia Dursley alongside Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley. Additionally, Lox Pratt has been cast as Draco Malfoy.

Several Hogwarts student roles were also cast, with Leo Early as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown.

The series is being marketed as a “faithful adaptation” of the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling. It will stream exclusively on HBO Max where it is available, including in upcoming launch markets Germany, Italy and the U.K. Theo original class films will remain available as well.

The Harry Potter series is being written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner. Mark Mylod will executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the series for HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. Other executive producers are Rowling; Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV; and David Heyman of Heyday Films.
